KUCHING: Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah continued their breakout run at the 2026 Baoji China Masters after sealing their spot at the women’s doubles semi-finals in Baoji City of China today.
The young Malaysians, who emerged as one of the biggest talking points during the recent Uber Cup campaign, produced another spirited comeback to defeat China’s Huang Ke Xin-Liang Yu En 14-21, 21-16, 21-15 in the quarter-finals today.
After struggling to contain the Chinese pair in the opening game, Zi Yu-Maisarah gradually settled into the match with sharper rotations, improved net control and more decisive attacking play.
Momentum eventually swung heavily towards the Malaysians, who looked increasingly composed as the deciding game wore on before sealing another impressive victory.
They are set to face China’s Wang Yi Duo-Wang Zi Meng in the semi-finals, in what appears to be their first head-to-head meeting.
Elsewhere, Cheng Su Hui-Teoh Mei Xing saw their campaign end after falling 9-21, 11-21 to Japan’s Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi despite battling through several long rallies and intense exchanges.
In the mixed doubles, Wee Yee Hern-Vannee Gobi bowed out after a 12-21, 16-21 defeat to Hong Kong’s Chan Yin Chak-Ng Tsz Yau.
Meanwhile, Too Ming Yap-Lee Yu Shan pushed China’s Shen Xuan Yao-Tang Rui Zhi before going down 20-22, 15-21 in a tightly contested encounter.
