BETONG: The Sarawak government continues its strong commitment to rural infrastructure development as the Bebuling STOL-Port Project achieves 100 per cent physical progress on schedule as of April 30.
This achievement was highlighted during an official working visit by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the Minister of Finance and New Economy II, and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, to the Bebuling STOL-Port Project here on Sunday.
The visit was conducted to review the implementation progress of the project, which is aimed at strengthening rural air transport connectivity and improving accessibility for communities in rural Sarawak.
During the briefing session, Uggah was updated on the current implementation status, scope of works, and overall project completion.
“Based on the project performance report as of April 30, 2026, the physical progress has reached 100 per cent in accordance with the original plan.

“The RM248.03 million project includes the construction of an airstrip, taxiway, aircraft parking apron, terminal building, drainage system, utility facilities, as well as related mechanical and electrical works,” Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) said in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday.
The state government reiterated that the project reflects its continued focus on delivering efficient rural infrastructure that benefits local communities and supports balanced regional development.
“The Bebuling STOL-Port Project is expected to play an important role in improving accessibility, boosting local socio-economic activities and strengthening connectivity between rural and urban areas in Sarawak, in line with the state’s sustainable regional development agenda,” it said.
Also present during the visit was Betong MP Datuk Dr Richard Rapu, who accompanied Uggah during the site inspection.
