KUCHING: State Assistant Transportation Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has pledged a RM500,000 allocation for phase one of the Biperoh Association Kuching (BAK) cultural centre.
The Mambong assemblyman made the pledge in his speech when officiating the Pasar Tamu Biperoh, a weekend market at Kampung Garung, Borneo Heights Road, 40 km from Kuching.
He said more funds will be provided as construction work progresses on the centre.
Jerip however reminded the association to make full use of the centre for its activities for the benefit of its members.
On the weekend bazaar, Jerip said it would be a place for the community to sell their products as well as their farm and husbandry produce.
He also urged the Biperoh leaders and professionals to work with the community to plan activities and socio-economic programmes which would generate income
Jerip added that RM200,000 will also be allocated to the Biperoh Association as well as other Bidayuh associations in his constituency to start their pasar tani (farmers’ markets). – Bernama
