BINTULU: The fourth series of the Borneo Health Tour (JKB) has enabled the Ministry of Health (MOH) to identify healthcare needs and challenges faced by health personnel and facilities in the Bintulu Division.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the initiative’s ground-level approach allowed the ministry to better understand the actual situation at healthcare facilities, including those serving rural communities.
During the visits to Klinik Kesihatan (KK) Jepak and KK Tatau, Hanifah inspected the facilities, amenities and equipment available at both clinics, while observing their daily operations and healthcare services provided to the communities in Jepak, Tatau and surrounding areas.
She also received briefings from the management of both clinics on their daily operations, scope of services and challenges in meeting the healthcare needs of local residents.
Hanifah stressed that every challenge identified should be addressed promptly through solutions suited to the conditions and needs of the respective areas.
“This is important to ensure healthcare personnel can carry out their duties effectively while the community continues to receive quality healthcare services,” she said in a statement posted on Facebook during the visit.
She added that issues identified during the visits would be given due attention to enable follow-up action to be coordinated between MOH and JKNS.
According to Hanifah, the visits also provided an opportunity to identify the actual needs on the ground, particularly in strengthening the capacity of healthcare facilities while safeguarding the welfare of healthcare workers and comfort of patients.
The JKB, she said, served as an important platform for MOH to engage directly with healthcare personnel and understand the challenges faced by them in delivering services.
“Through the JKB, we are able to directly understand the actual needs and challenges faced by healthcare personnel on the ground, thereby further strengthening the delivery of healthcare services to the people,” she said.
The fourth series of JKB reflects MOH’s continued ground-level approach to assessing the situation at healthcare facilities and ensuring communities, including those in rural areas, have access to quality, effective and accessible healthcare services.
