SIMANGGANG: The Guntong-Menalang road upgrading and widening project now enters its construction phase, said Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.
The Deputy Minister for Talent Development said that the RM33.3 million project tender has now been officially handed over to Sim Ho Empire Sdn Bhd.

“I believe the presence of all attendees, including community leaders (KMKK) from various ethnic groups such as Iban, Chinese, and Malay, signifies a shared commitment to bringing this good news to the people. It also reflects the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s dedication to developing the Simanggang constituency,” he said.
Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, said this at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Guntong-Menalang road upgrading and widening project on Wednesday.
He also urged the community to dispel claims from certain quarters that the area has been neglected in terms of development.
“This is just one of many projects planned and to be implemented in the Simanggang constituency,” he added.
Beyond road infrastructure, Harden highlighted the GPS government’s success in human capital development with the establishment of the Sarawak Skills Sri Aman technical institution.
“This institution began operations in February 2024, offering short courses for entrepreneurs and the community, and welcomed its first batch of 23 students in October 2024,” he said.
