MIRI: A double-storey convenience store premises at Jalan Kettleya in Piasau here was destroyed in a fire in the wee hours today (June 29).
Miri Zone 6 acting fire chief Ahmad Nizan Sapaiee said 70 per cent of the shop’s structures were razed.
Nineteen firemen from the Miri Central and Lopeng fire stations were deployed to the scene following a distress call at 2.47am.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Firemen managed to bring the blaze under control at 4.10am.
The actual cause of the blaze is not immediately known.
