KUCHING: Padawan police are looking for a man to assist with investigations into two cases of fraud.
Deputy district police chief DSP Merbin Lisa said the suspect had been identified as Gilbert Ahnyan, 37, from Kampung Merang Baru, Jalan Kuching-Serian Road.
According to him, the first case was reported to have happened on May 12, involving a 38-year-old foreign woman, in which the suspect had offered to get the victim a vehicle.
“The suspect requested the victim to deposit a payment of RM8,000 to ease the transaction of purchasing the vehicle, however after obtaining the payment, the suspect went missing,” said DSP Merbin.
The second case involved a 48-year-old woman, who suffered a loss of RM3,000 in August last year to the same modus operandi.
This prompted the victims to lodge a police report. DSP Merbin also urged the public with any information about the suspect to call investigating officer Insp Douglas Suai at 019-812 9892 or Sgt Ranggie at 013-833 8041.
