KUCHING: A suspected drug trafficker was arrested with about 120g of ecstasy worth RM2,400 in Jalan Pisang Barat here.
State Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief Supt Sahar Abd Latif said following a tip-off, a team from the department detained the 43-year-old businessman at a condominium parking space at 11.45am on Wednesday.
“The suspect then led the raiding team to his residence and found a plastic bag containing eight packets of the drugs in powder form with a total weight of 120g,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Sahar said the suspect have been remanded for five days to facilitate the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“The suspect also admitted that he had been distributing the drugs to, entertainment outlets within the city area since late 2018,” said Sahar adding that the suspect was tested negative for drugs and has no prior criminal record.
