Deputy minister touches base with longhouse visits

MERADONG: Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, who is also the Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, continued his visit here by visiting 31 more longhouses.

The visit on Thursday focused on the areas of Sg Mador, Sg Tulai, Sg Kelupu, Sg Kawi, Sg Kijang, Sg Pidi, and Sg Meradong.

While engaging with the longhouse communities, Huang took the opportunity to listen to public sentiments and address issues faced by the residents, and improve the living standards of those in the longhouse areas.

He also allocated funds to various longhouse committees for the development of the longhouses according to the needs of the residents, such as upgrading roads and improving their quality of life.

In his brief remarks, Huang, who is also Repok assemblyman expressed his gratitude to the voters for their support in the 2022 general election, which gave him the opportunity to voice the people’s concerns in Parliament.

He also urged the longhouse residents to give their full support to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
