KUCHING: A RM47 million road project linking Kampung Bugis, Bukit Huang and the Muara Payang scheme in Sarikei is set to begin following a site handover meeting held today (Apr 21).

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, who also serves as chairman of the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).

According to a press statement, the project will be implemented by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak over a period of 24 months.

It is aimed at improving road access in the area, particularly for communities who currently face limited connectivity.

Better road infrastructure is expected to ease daily movement for residents while supporting economic activities in surrounding areas.

With improved connectivity, the project is also anticipated to contribute to overall socio-economic growth and enhance the living conditions of communities along the route.
