KUCHING: Dog owners in the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) area can get their pets vaccinated against rabies, microchipped and licensed for free this Saturday, as part of efforts to strengthen rabies prevention and responsible pet ownership.

The free services will be offered from 9 am to 3 pm on Sept 5 at Persatuan Biperoh Kuching Barei/Hall, Lorong 18 Gerung, Jalan Puncak Borneo, according to a statement posted on the MPP Facebook page.

MPP said the services would be prioritised for pet owners within its area.

The council reminded owners to ensure their dogs are healthy and at least three months old before attending the programme.

It also stressed that vaccinated dogs must be quarantined and isolated for 28 days after vaccination to allow immunity against rabies to develop, with the animals kept within their house compounds during the period.
