SRI AMAN: Sarawak’s steadily growing economic strength, driven by political stability and rising confidence among foreign investors, has placed the state on a strong path towards emerging as a new economic powerhouse in the ASEAN region.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the state’s economic progress is now showing significant performance, with Sarawak’s annual revenue said to be equivalent to Penang’s accumulated income over 15 years.
“The political stability under the leadership of the Premier has become a key factor in boosting the confidence of foreign investors to continue investing in Sarawak,” he said in an UKAS report during the lunch gathering organised by the Chee Chuan Khor Moral Uplifting Society Sri Aman here today (May 9).
He added that such confidence has directly contributed to the state’s economic growth while further strengthening Sarawak’s position as one of the emerging economic powers in the ASEAN region.
Dr Sim said that the state government would continue strengthening strategic sectors including healthcare, education and infrastructure to ensure sustainable development can be enjoyed comprehensively by the people.
