KUCHING: A lorry driver narrowly escaped a fiery fate after his vehicle’s cabin caught fire along Jalan Setia Raja today.
Firemen from Tabuan Jaya station were promptly dispatched to the scene near Kampung Tabuan Hilir after receiving a distress call at around 12.40 pm.
On arrival, they found that the five-tonne lorry was still on fire by the roadside near Tabuan Jaya bridge.
The flames, which had caused 25 per cent damages to the lorry’s cabin, was completely put out with water sourced from the fire truck.
After ensuring that the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 12.56 pm.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
