KUCHING: The Energy Industries Council (EIC) Connect Energy Borneo 2025 will centre around three key themes vital to the future of energy in the region.
The three key themes consist of net zero as a catalyst for economic prosperity, enhancing energy security in the region and regional interconnectivity and cooperation.
“Net Zero as a Catalyst for Economic Prosperity will explore how transitioning to a low-carbon economy can drive investments, job creation and innovation in the energy sector.
“Enhancing Energy Security in the Region will address the need for diversified energy sources, resilient infrastructure, and strategies to ensure a stable and affordable energy supply.
“Regional Interconnectivity and Cooperation will emphasise the importance of cross-border energy projects, policy harmonisation, and collaborative efforts to achieve ASEAN’s sustainability goals,” EIC chief executive officer Stuart Broadley said in a statement.
Organised by EIC in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESty), supported by Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), the event will be held at Hikmah Exchange Centre on February 25 to 26, with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg having been invited to officiate at the event.
Broadley added that the conference is about action, and by fostering cross-border collaboration, all parties aim to turn Borneo’s energy vision into reality.
Additionally, EIC regional director (Asia Pacific) Azman Nasir said that Borneo’s rich resources and progressive policies position it as a leader in ASEAN’s net-zero journey.
