SARIKEI: A three-day anti-drug crackdown here netted 44 individuals, including three former civil servants.
National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Sarawak in a statement said the individuals were detained during the agency’s anti-drug operation, codenamed Ops Cegah Khas, from May 26 to 28.
“Of the 37 arrested six were women who tested positive for methamphetamine. Among them were three former civil servants,” AADK said.
The agency said all who tested positive for drugs are being investigated under Section 3(1)(a) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, while two others were handed over to the police for further investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Led by Dalin Nani George, the operation involved personnel from both the AADK Sarawak and AADK Sarikei.
They were supported by various enforcement departments and agencies, including the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA), and local community leaders.
The agency pledged to continue mounting regular operations across the state, while noting that community cooperation remains key to stamping out drug abuse.
