BAU: A man lodged a police report after receiving threats from his father-in-law at Kampung Pangkalan Loji.

Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the report was received on Sept 3 at around 12.34am from a man in his 30s.

“According to the report, the incident happened on Sept 2 at around 9pm when the suspect, believed to be intoxicated, caused a disturbance in the house.

“The suspect became enraged after being confronted by the complainant and family members, before verbally threatening them, threatening he would kill them in their sleep and set fire to the house.

“The suspect also punched a living room wall,” he said.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect frequently returned home intoxicated and caused disturbances by breaking items in the house. However, previous incidents were never reported to the police.

“Following the report, we detained the 40-year-old suspect, who is the father of the complainant’s wife,” said Mohd Haide.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 (AKRT 1994).
