KUCHING: The Forest Department Sarawak (FDS) has partnered with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) in an effort to restore the environment through a tree planting program at the Sabal Forest Reserve.
FDS said the programme held yesterday (May 11) involved the planting of 1,000 saplings of high-value indigenous species like meranti, menggris, and nyatoh.
“A total of 140 representatives from FDS, SEB’s Retail Department, and local communities participated in the programme,” it said in a press release.
FDS said the tree planting programme was organised in line with SEB’s Sarawak Energy Tree Planting, Protection and Habitat Restoration Campaign (2021-2030) as part of its support for the Greening Sarawak Campaign led by FDS.
The trees planted here have contributed to the cumulative number of trees planted in Sarawak under the ‘Greening Malaysia Agenda Through 100 million Tree Planting Campaign’ (2021 to 2025), which has now surpassed 86 million trees at the national level.
