SARIKEI: A gold bar worth about RM15,000 is among 82 lucky draw prizes awaiting visitors to the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 programme here through an interactive QR code contest.
Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said visitors only need to scan a QR code and answer questions related to exhibits by government departments and agencies to qualify.
Other prizes include a 60-inch television, a motorcycle and a two-night holiday package to Jakarta.
“The contest was designed to encourage greater public participation while helping visitors better understand the Sarawak government’s policies, initiatives and assistance programmes,” he was quoted as saying in a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
He said this during ‘Juh Randau’, a programme by Ukas on Tuesday (Aug 4).
Len said SKS provides a platform for leaders to engage with the people, share information on government policies and assistance, and go to the ground to better understand issues faced by the rakyat so that follow-up action can be taken.
He added that the programme also allows Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to share the state’s development agenda directly with the people.
On preparations, Len Talif said readiness for the Sarikei edition had reached 95 per cent.
“We are now fine-tuning every aspect to ensure its smooth implementation, using the previous five editions as our benchmark,” he said.
The three-day programme from Aug 7 to 9 will feature a community dinner, a people’s concert, a brisk walk with the Premier, agency exhibitions and community activities.
Visitors can also learn more about government initiatives, including the state’s free tertiary education policy and assistance programmes.
SKS Sarikei is expected to attract between 30,000 and 50,000 visitors.
