BINTULU: The Pavilion Public Toilet at the Bintulu Old Airport is a testament to Bintulu’s commitment to green and sustainable urban development.
Officially opened by Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming today (Nov 30), in conjunction with World Toilet Day 2024, the toilet boasts a design that prioritises environmental sustainability.
“This toilet is not just a basic facility but also a symbol of our responsibility towards the community and the ecosystem,” Pang said in his opening speech.
The facility incorporates natural lighting, natural ventilation and energy-saving LED lights.
Green plants and stone chairs complement the design, creating a serene and eco-friendly atmosphere.
“The cleanliness of the toilet is a reflection of the well-being of the community. We must work together to ensure that public facilities are well maintained,” he added.
He condemned a recent act of vandalism at the toilet, vowing that the government would not tolerate such behaviour.
The BDA fully funded the construction of the toilet, which took three months to complete.
The project aligned with the BDA Strategic Plan 2024-2030, which prioritises community development, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
