SRI AMAN: The huge mandate given by the people to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is important to ensure the smooth running of the state government.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the 12th state election and 15th general election witnessed strong opposition sentiments that affected the results in several areas.
“Now, the people should realise that the government’s purpose in strengthening the position, is to obtain a large mandate so that the government runs smoothly.
“Therefore, the time has come for us to rectify the situation by supporting the GPS government who has proven to put the people first in bringing development to all corners of the state.
“Previous mistakes need to be corrected so that we are part of the people, who are helping the government to implement its development agenda,” he said during the handover of food baskets to flood victims at Dumang Gunggang longhouse near Kampung Sri Kejatau on Tuesday (Jan 17).
The Simanggang assemblyman also expressed his gratitude to the government for channelling allocations to help the needy.
Harden explained that the initiative to supply food baskets was among the concerns of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Simanggang Women’s Wing to ease the burden of flood victims in the past few months.
A total of 28 affected families received the food baskets.
Also present were Simanggang SUPP Women chief Kapitan Ling Siew Hung, Penghulu Minggging Sigan and Penghulu Leonard Libau Anol.
