KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, has called on the public to honour and appreciate the sacrifices of fathers, describing them as the backbone of families and key figures in shaping future generations.

In a Father’s Day message issued by Astana Sarawak, Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, extended their Father’s Day greetings to all fathers in Sarawak and across Malaysia.

Wan Junaidi said the role of a father goes far beyond being the head of a household or provider of financial support, as it carries a significant responsibility in moulding the character, values and direction of the next generation.

“A father’s sacrifices are often made without expecting recognition. Behind their efforts to earn a living and shoulder family responsibilities, fathers face various challenges, make difficult decisions, and place the needs of their families above their own to ensure the wellbeing of their loved ones,” he said.

He described fathers as pillars of strength within the families who not only provide material needs, but also serve as educators, mentors, listeners and role models in nurturing the identity and moral values of their children, particularly in an increasingly complex world.

In conjunction with Father’s Day, Wan Junaidi encouraged the public to express their appreciation to fathers, strengthen family bonds, and make the most of opportunities to spend meaningful time with those who have sacrificed so much for their families.

He also reminded the public to continue remembering fathers who have passed away through prayers and charitable acts dedicated in their memory.

At the same time, he expressed appreciation to individuals who have taken on fatherly roles in the lives of others, including grandfathers, uncles, guardians, teachers, mentors and those who provide guidance and inspiration to the younger generation.

Wan Junaidi also prayed that all fathers would be blessed with good health, ease in their affairs, abundant sustenance, and the wisdom and strength to continue leading their families with compassion, responsibility and dedication.
