KUCHING: A family of six living in a rented room in Sungai Apong has received assistance from Hope Place Kuching after struggling to manage day-to-day expenses and schooling needs.
Silihin, a 47-year-old factory worker, supports his family on a minimum-wage income, which is largely consumed by monthly commitments, including rent and motorcycle instalments.
His wife, Kasuma Lia Hussein, 33, is a full-time homemaker caring for their four children, aged between four and 15 years.
The family recently approached Hope Place for assistance as their financial situation became increasingly difficult.
According to Kasuma, the rented room barely accommodates all of them. Despite the cramped conditions, they have chosen to remain there because it is within walking distance of their children’s school.
“As my children grow, their education expenses also grow,” she said.
Hope Place is providing the family with monthly basic food assistance, school supplies for their two primary school children, and educational necessities for their eldest child in secondary school.
Those wishing to support the organisation’s welfare efforts may contact Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) at 082-505 987 or 013-567 2775.
Donations can also be made via Maybank account 5112 8900 1160 or through the Sarawak Pay/S PAY GLOBAL QR code available on the organisation’s Facebook page.
Official receipts will be issued upon request.
