KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof hopes that the negotiations between Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) will proceed smoothly.
He said that parties who are not involved in the discussions should avoid making any assumptions.
“What is certain is that we are looking at all of this based on the interest of the country, and at the same time, the interests of Sarawak must be balanced.
“This is because any development, if Sarawak benefits, the federal government will also benefit from it because taxes will be paid to the federal government,” he said.
Fadillah made this statement to reporters when met at the Matang Jaya Ramadan Bazaar on Monday.
According to previous media reports, PETRONAS is continuing discussions with multiple stakeholders following a report that negotiations over the ongoing gas aggregator role with PETROS have reached a deadlock.
