MIRI: A RM75-million Lagoon Theme Park at Kenyalang Smart City here is poised to become a new tourism and lifestyle landmark in Northern Sarawak.

The development is expected to strengthen Sarawak’s position on the international tourism map, in line with the Sarawak Government’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030) which places tourism as one of the key economic drivers.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) inked between Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd (IDSB) and CM Waterparks, a global leader in theme park design and manufacturing, marked a significant step forward in realising the project.

The modern theme park will be able to accommodate over 6,000 visitors at any one time.

It is anticipated to become a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists, thereby spurring local economic activity.

The project is also expected to generate new job opportunities and bring spillover benefits to the surrounding community.

Apart from entertainment, the Lagoon Theme Park will incorporate educational elements through initiatives such as the Children’s Life Skills Role-Play Programme, designed to nurture a competitive younger generation.

By combining entertainment, education and innovation, the project complements the vision of Kenyalang Smart City as a smart and sustainable urban hub.

It is also expected to stand as a symbol of pride for Miri and a prominent tourism landmark in Northern Borneo.
