KUCHING: Indonesian travel agents, media representatives and social media influencers were given an immersive introduction to Sarawak’s tourism offerings during a three-day familiarisation (FAM) trip aimed at expanding the state’s reach in the neighbouring market.
Organised by Inter-Continental Travel Centre (ITC) in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia and the Sarawak Tourism Board, the programme was held from Jul 10 to 12.
According to a statement, the initiative sought to strengthen ties with tourism industry players in Indonesia while encouraging the promotion of Sarawak through travel packages, media coverage and digital content.
“The delegation explored several of Kuching’s signature attractions, including a city tour, a cruise along the Sarawak River and a visit to the Sarawak Cultural Village, where participants experienced the state’s multicultural heritage and traditions.
“They also enjoyed local cuisine at Top Spot and The Lamin, besides purchasing iconic Sarawak products such as layer cakes and black pepper,” it added.
A networking dinner with local tourism industry players was held to facilitate business matching and explore future collaboration opportunities.
The statement said the programme is expected to enhance Sarawak’s visibility in the Indonesian market and support efforts to attract more visitors from the neighbouring country.
