MERADONG: Plans to upgrade the infrastructure of the canteen at Bintangor Health Clinic are expected to improve comfort, safety and convenience for healthcare workers, patients and members of the public using the facility.
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said quality basic facilities are essential in healthcare institutions to create a conducive environment and support the delivery of better healthcare services.
He said comfortable facilities not only benefit healthcare personnel but also enhance the experience of patients, their family members and visitors at the clinic.
“Quality basic facilities at a healthcare institution play an important role in creating a conducive environment, not only for staff on duty but also for patients, their families and members of the public seeking services at Bintangor Health Clinic,” he said.
He said this during a site visit to inspect the condition of the clinic’s canteen infrastructure together with members of the Bintangor Health Clinic Visitors’ Panel on Monday (Jul 6) as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
During the visit, Ding and the panel members inspected the current condition of the canteen and reviewed existing facilities, many of which were found to be ageing and in need of maintenance and upgrading.
Among the proposed improvements are the installation of air-conditioning units, new ceiling fans and energy-efficient lighting, replacement of deteriorated windows and doors, as well as upgrading the electrical wiring system through the installation of new electrical conduits and additional power sockets to improve safety and usability.
Ding also commended the Bintangor Health Clinic Visitors’ Panel for serving as an important link between the clinic, the local community and relevant agencies in highlighting the need to improve healthcare facilities in the Meradong area.
“Close cooperation among all parties is crucial to ensure that every issue raised receives the necessary attention and appropriate action.
“I hope the proposed upgrading of the canteen infrastructure can be implemented in the near future for the benefit and comfort of all users,” he added.
