KUALA LUMPUR: Experience will be one of Kuching City FC’s biggest weapons as the Cats chase a place in the AFC Champions League Two (ACL Two) knockout stage.
Club chief executive officer (CEO), Iswandi Ali Hassan, said the Sarawak side were confident of competing in Group H, believing their experienced new signings would help them match some of Asia’s more established clubs.
“We consider the new players we have brought in to have a lot of experience. So, Inshaallah, we should have no problem competing against the teams in the group,” he said.
Kuching City were drawn alongside South Korea’s Gangwon FC, Hong Kong’s Kitchee and Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown in Group H of the 2026–2027 ACL Two.
Despite facing opponents with continental pedigree, Iswandi said Kuching City would approach the campaign one match at a time.
“For Kuching City, we take every game as important. As we have discussed, our target is to qualify for the top 16,” he said.
He also called on Sarawak football supporters to rally behind the club as it prepares for its biggest continental campaign yet.
“I appeal to the fans in Sarawak to give us their support and encouragement. This is a great achievement for our team, especially for football fans in Sarawak,” he said.
