KUCHING: International recording artist JessC will bring her ‘My Style’ World Tour home to Kuching for two nights this December.

The concerts will be held on Dec 4 and 5 at Pullman Grand Ballroom, featuring multilingual performances, live instruments, dancers and international award-winning songs.

“I want people to leave the concert feeling stronger, more energetic and more alive than when they walked in,” JessC said.

She said this during a press conference at Grand Riverine Diamond on Monday (Aug 10) describing the Kuching concerts as more than conventional entertainment.

“I will perform songs in seven languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Bahasa Malaysia, Japanese and Hokkien, reflecting Kuching’s multicultural identity,”she said.

She said bilingual performances could also combine languages such as Mandarin and Japanese or Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia within individual performances.

She will also showcase her versatility by playing four different musical instruments while singing, accompanied by a live band and backing vocalists.

Dance performances will form another component of the production, with JessC joking that she might even challenge herself by incorporating belly dancing.

She said her performances were designed to create a positive-energy experience where audiences could temporarily put aside everyday pressures and enjoy music.

“The Kuching concerts will also feature songs which have received recognition from major music awards in the United States and Europe,”she said.

She said her music journey had evolved from the Chinese-language market towards international audiences, allowing her songs to cross linguistic and cultural boundaries.

“This has always been my dream that one day my songs could travel around the world,” she said.

JessC said she hoped audiences from different backgrounds would discover a personal connection through her multilingual repertoire and live performances.

Her music is distributed internationally, while her works have attracted attention from international music media, and she received three Josie Music Awards nominations this year.

The Kuching concerts are expected to become an important milestone in the next phase of JessC’s international ‘My Style’ World Tour.

“Beyond Kuching, my management is planning overseas concerts in Australia, Taiwan and Indonesia, with Indonesia tentatively targeted for March and April next year,

“A major indoor venue in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, is also being considered for the tour next year,”she said.

JessC said she hoped the tour would ultimately become a platform bringing different cultures together through music, rather than simply showcasing her personal artistic journey.
