KUCHING: The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Sekama is stepping up efforts to promote fire safety awareness among residents and local businesses through a community outreach initiative.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching acting branch chairman, Jong Yean Pin said the initiative involved distributing fire safety posters to residents and local businesses to encourage greater vigilance against potential fire hazards.
He said fire prevention should begin with awareness and require the participation of the entire community.
“We hope this awareness initiative will help the community become more aware of fire safety and the potential hazards in their surroundings,” he said in a statement.
Jong added that simple reminders could make a meaningful difference in preventing fires and keeping the neighbourhood safe.
He said JKKK Sekama would continue to support initiatives aimed at safeguarding the community and promoting the well-being of residents.
“Fire safety starts with awareness, and a safer community starts with all of us,” he said.
