KUCHING: The Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) has urged 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates to attend and sit for the Bahasa Melayu and English listening tests, which began today (Dec 31).
In its announcement titled ‘Jum Turun SPM Gik’, JPNS also reminded students of the written examinations scheduled to take place from Jan 2 to Feb 6, 2025.
The department called for cooperation from parents, guardians, parent-teacher associations (PIBGs), the Parents, Community, and Private Sector’s Involvement (PIBKs) programme, and community leaders to ensure students adhere to the examination schedule set by the Malaysian Examinations Board.
“The attendance of these students is crucial for their future progress, well-being, and career prospects.
“We also urge parents and guardians to provide moral support to help students be mentally and emotionally prepared for the examinations,” JPNS said.
The department expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation of all parties involved and extended prayers for the success of the candidates.
It further advised those facing challenges in attending the examinations to promptly inform and discuss the matter with their respective District Education Office (PPD).
“The success of Sarawakian students in the 2024 SPM examination is a shared responsibility,” JPNS added.
The announcement, initially shared on Facebook, quickly gained attention on social media.
JPNS deputy director of Student Development Sector, Zamzaitul Akmal Hisham Ahmad, clarified that the statement reflects the department’s efforts to act on federal recommendations to enhance intervention strategies.
“It is essential to encourage 2024 SPM candidates to attend the scheduled examinations to achieve maximum attendance rates,” he said.
