KAPIT: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming official visit of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to Kapit on Nov 6, aimed at ensuring all arrangements and coordination run smoothly.
The matter was discussed during the Sarawak Development Coordination Committee Meeting (SDCCM) held at the Resident’s Office, Kapit Division Government Complex on Thursday (Oct 24).
Kapit MP and Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) chairman Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who attended the meeting, said it served to ensure all aspects of preparation were well-aligned for the Premier’s visit.
“Following the SDCCM meeting, the Premier is scheduled to visit the new URDA/Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) office, which will serve as an important centre to strengthen development efforts in the Upper Rajang region,” he said in a Facebook post.

Nanta added that the Premier will also attend a merarau (communal luncheon) with the local community at Dewan Suarah Kapit, where he is expected to officiate the launching of a new hotel — a development marking another positive milestone in Kapit’s economic and tourism growth.
“As the MP for Kapit and chairman of URDA, I deeply appreciate the Premier’s continuous concern and commitment towards bringing comprehensive development to rural areas, including Kapit,” he said.
He added that the Premier’s dedication reflects the state government’s ongoing effort to ensure balanced progress so that people in the interior continue to enjoy the same level of development as those in other parts of Sarawak.
