KAPIT: Kapit will host the Sarawak-level National Day celebration on August 30 and 31, with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg expected to join the celebrations.
Minister responsible for the celebration, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, said the annual celebration aims to strengthen patriotism, foster unity and deepen love for the nation while honouring the sacrifices and contributions of past leaders.
Speaking at a press conference at the Kapit Resident’s Office on Tuesday (Aug 4), he said the celebration would bring together people from across Kapit Division and surrounding areas in the spirit of unity and togetherness.
“The celebration serves as a platform to strengthen the spirit of patriotism, reinforce national unity and honour the sacrifices and contributions of those who helped shape our nation,” he said.
The programme will feature three main events comprising the National Day Eve celebration on Aug 30, followed by the Unity Walk and the official National Day assembly on Aug 31.
Dr Rundi said the Sarawak Government welcomes the participation of the public, particularly residents of Kapit Division and surrounding areas, adding that strong public participation would further strengthen patriotism, national identity, and the spirit of togetherness among Malaysians.
