SIMANGGANG: Community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) have been urged to serve as reliable channels for conveying accurate information on Sarawak government development initiatives to strengthen public confidence in the state’s ongoing development efforts.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the delivery of precise and fact-based information is crucial in enhancing public understanding while preventing confusion over government policies and initiatives.
He said grassroots leaders, including penghulu, longhouse chiefs and village chiefs, should also engage regularly with their communities to explain development progress and listen to issues faced by the people.
“When the people receive accurate information and see the commitment of leaders engaging with them, public confidence in the government will continue to grow and development implementation can be carried out more effectively,” he said when officiating at the Presentation of Appointment Letters and Service Extension for KMKK in the Simanggang constituency at the Simanggang Service Centre here recently.
Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, also called on grassroots leaders to guide youths in acquiring knowledge and skills to keep pace with the state’s and nation’s development.
At the same time, he reminded KMKK members to properly manage and update their respective Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) profiles to ensure more systematic administration and development implementation.
Earlier, Biju Anggat was appointed as the new Penghulu for the Iban community in the Bandar Simanggang area.
At the same event, Harden also presented a RM5,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to the Sri Aman District Office Sports and Recreation Club to support its activities.
