LAWAS: This district is set to undergo rapid development with the proposed LEPAPA project, which will feature 150 apartment units, a 50-room hotel, commercial outlets, and a water theme park.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan welcomed the private sector’s support in advancing the state’s development agenda.
He noted that, alongside LEPAPA, the state government is also implementing various infrastructure projects to improve the quality of life in Lawas.
“Roads will be expanded, electricity supply connecting Limbang and Lawas to the state grid is expected to be completed by October 2025, while a new plant in Pengalih will strengthen clean water supply. Telecommunications facilities are also being upgraded,” he said.
The Bukit Sari assemblyman said this during his recent visit to the project site.
LEPAPA chairman Lee Chin Teck who was also present said the project is part of a larger development plan spanning 10 locations across Sarawak.
Awang Tengah, meanwhile, said major projects such as the new Lawas Airport, Northern Coastal Highway (NCH), and the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) will further boost eco-tourism and overall development in the district.
