KUCHING: Datuk Douglas Sullang Ganda will be remembered as a towering Dayak leader whose contributions to community development, business and public service left a lasting mark on Sarawak.
Expressing his sadness over the passing of the prominent community figure on Tuesday at the age of 83, Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar described the late Douglas as a dedicated leader who had devoted much of his life to uplifting and empowering the Dayak community.
“He contributed immensely to the state’s development through his active involvement in leadership, business and public service
“His role as the founder and former vice-president of the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as a former senator, would remain among his most meaningful legacies,” he said.
He stated that the late leader’s vision and commitment had played an important role in advancing the progress and development of the Dayak community in Sarawak.
Wan Junaidi and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi also conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the late Douglas’ family and prayed that they be granted strength and perseverance during this difficult time.
He added that the late Douglas’ sacrifices, services and cherished memories would continue to be remembered by the people and serve as an inspiration for future generations.
