SIBU: Lions International District 308-A2 is currently holding its two-day ‘Cabinet Designates SUCCESS Training’ starting today, marking the commencement of systematic training, team-building and mission alignment for the incoming Cabinet members who will officially assume office for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-2027 on July 1.
The opening was officiated by District 308-A2 Governor, Datuk Winnie Lee.
In her remarks, she congratulated all newly appointed Cabinet members on their appointments for FY 2026-2027 and expressed her full confidence in District Governor-elect, Datuk Jimmy Tie Hien Hwa, describing him as a leader with outstanding capability and a clear vision who will undoubtedly lead District 308-A2 to greater heights and open a promising new chapter.
She noted that this important training initiative has been specially planned by Tie for his FY 2026-2027 Cabinet team.
It aims, she added, to equip all Cabinet Designates with a deeper understanding of their respective roles, strengthen the spirit of teamwork, align common goals, and prepare them thoroughly for the service and development agenda of the new fiscal year.
The training programme is chaired by Cabinet Secretary Designate, Tiau Kiu Ung, who leads the organising committee in coordinating and executing all arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
Tie shared that the FY 2026–2027 Cabinet team, including himself, comprises a total of 88 members.
He noted that the number ‘88’ symbolises auspiciousness, completeness and unity, reflecting a team that is fully prepared to move forward together with one heart and one purpose.
He expressed his hope that, throughout the coming year, all Cabinet members will stand alongside him with unity, responsibility, passion and strong execution, working hand in hand to assist Club Presidents and Key Officers in achieving the District’s goals, attaining Five-Star standards, and even surpassing them to become ‘Super Star Presidents’.
The incoming Cabinet, he stated, is not only responsible for advancing the District’s policies and programmes, but also serves as a vital bridge between the District and the clubs.
“Cabinet members must actively support Club Presidents and Key Officers by helping them clarify their direction, implement goals effectively and elevate overall performance, thereby enabling District 308-A2 to achieve comprehensive progress in service, leadership and membership development,” he further emphasised.
“The training programme is more than a learning platform on knowledge and responsibilities; it also symbolises the official launch of the FY2026–2027 District 308-A2 team.
“With 88 Cabinet Designates gathering in Sibu to learn, exchange ideas and build consensus, District 308-A2 is poised, under my leadership, to demonstrate even stronger team spirit and usher in a more harmonious, outstanding and radiant new year,” Tie enthused.
