KUCHING: A man was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court here after pleading guilty to criminal intimidation involving a machete in Taman Landeh Indah, Padawan.
Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan imposed the sentence on Limle Jim, 51, under the second limb of Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment, or a fine, or both.
According to the amended charge, Limle was accused of committing criminal intimidation by threatening to cause grievous hurt using a machete against a 54 year old man in front of a house at Taman Landeh Indah, Jalan Landeh, here at about 7 am on Aug 4, 2025.
Based on the facts of the case, the accused went to the complainant’s house in an angry state while armed with a machete and allegedly shouted in Malay, “Keluar, saya mahu potong kamu” (Come out, I want to chop you), intending to threaten the victim with grievous hurt.
He also allegedly caused minor property damage by chopping down a banana sapling and damaging three flower pots, resulting in an estimated loss of RM100.
Police arrested the accused after the complainant lodged a report, leading to further investigations.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Afiq Safly Nor Kazly appeared for the prosecution. The accused was unrepresented.
