KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 10,000 cups of Milo drinks will be distributed free to visitors in conjunction with the 2026 Malaysia Day Celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak, on Sept 16.
Milo Sports Marketing Manager Noor Misbah Md Nasirudin Kamal said this initiative via the Milo Truck is part of a target to distribute 100,000 cups of drinks for free throughout this year’s National Month.
She said Milo’s involvement in the celebration also carries the “Malaysia Boleh” spirit, which is part of the brand’s identity, alongside leveraging the nostalgia of the Milo Van that has been close to the hearts of Malaysians for a long time.
“Milo has been synonymous since the old days and has been established for 76 years in Malaysia, and this is our drive to unite Malaysians through the nostalgia of the Milo Van,” she said when appearing as a guest on the Bernama TV programme Apa Khabar Malaysia titled “Strategic Collaboration Programme for the 2026 Malaysia Day Celebration” today.
Ministry of Communications Control and Compliance Division Principal Assistant Secretary Nurul Haliah Muin, who was also a guest on the programme, said this year’s Malaysia Day celebration features more diverse content through cultural elements and performances by artists from various ethnicities.
She said the Federal Government is also collaborating with the Sarawak Government to make the celebration a success, which will be broadcast live via Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), RTM Klik, and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).
Meanwhile, Ministry of Communications Management Services Division Principal Assistant Secretary Mohd Burhanuddin Mohd Masri said various programmes are also being held at several locations in Sarawak leading up to the peak of the celebration on Sept 16.
He said these include mini exhibitions in 10 districts in Sarawak, as well as a Malaysia Day exhibition at Plaza Merdeka running from today until Sept 16.
“Other activities include religious ceremonies, thanksgiving prayers, theatrical performances, and the symbolic cutting of yellow glutinous rice cakes (apam pulut kuning),” he said when interviewed on the RTM programme Selamat Pagi Malaysia today.
In addition, Astro Shaw Head and Nusantara Malay Business Vice President of Astro, Raja Jastina Raja Arshad said Astro is also supporting the celebration through a contribution worth RM7 million.
“This year is more meaningful, more important for us because we are celebrating our 30th anniversary at Astro, and we hope the special initiatives and content brought by Astro can bring Malaysians closer together and inspire everyone,” she said. — BERNAMA
