Man held over fun outlet licence offence

KUCHING: Police arrested a local man for allegedly operating an entertainment centre without a valid licence following a series of raids on Sunday (Aug 2).

Codenamed ‘Ops Noda’ and ‘Ops Pusat Hiburan’, the district Criminal Investigation Division’s (CID) D7 launched several inspections on entertainment premises across the city.

Checks at an entertainment outlet in GalaCity along Jalan Tun Jugah, resulted in the suspect’s arrest after he failed to display a valid entertainment licence.

Police also seized equipment used by the entertainment premises as part of the investigation.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said enforcement operations and monitoring of entertainment outlets would continue from time to time to ensure operators comply with regulations set by the authorities.

He advised entertainment outlet operators to obtain valid public entertainment licences and refrain from operating beyond the permitted business hours.
