BAU: A 25-year-old man was arrested after police found suspected drugs in his car near a petrol station here on Friday (May 8).

The suspect was detained at about 6 pm by a team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) and District Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division at the side of a PETRONAS station.

Bau police chief, Act Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said checks on the suspect’s Perodua Kancil led to the discovery of four transparent plastic packets containing suspected syabu weighing 1.46 grammes.

“The drugs were found inside a black zippered container in the vehicle,” he said.

Initial urine screening found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Police also seized the vehicle and car keys.
