PADAWAN: Police have issued a traffic summons against a man for an illegal U-turn along Jalan Batu Kawa-Bau last week.
The incident came to light after a dashcam footage showing a Toyota Estima making a U-turn without following traffic directions, went viral on Facebook on July 26.
According to the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, the posting attracted negative comments, condemning the driver’s action which could endanger other road users.
“Following that, the Padawan traffic police managed to identify the driver and contacted him to come forward for investigation.
“On Friday (July 28), the driver came to the Padawan traffic police office around 11.30 am to assist in the investigation,” the department said.
The driver admitted his wrongdoing and a summons was issued for committing an offence under Rule 12(3)(a) of the Traffic Rules 166/59.
