MIRI: A routine operation by the Marine Intelligence Unit (URM) of the Tactical Headquarters of Marine Police Region 5, Miri, led to the discovery and seizure of suspected smuggled diesel and a vehicle.
At approximately 4.50pm on Monday (March 3), a team consisting of one officer and four personnel was conducting Op Taring Landai when they intercepted a white Toyota Hilux single-cab pick-up truck parked by the roadside on Jalan Melor, Bekenu near here.
Upon inspection, the vehicle, driven by a 46-year-old man, was found carrying a load suspected to be diesel fuel.
Authorities determined the case to be in violation of the Supply Control Act 1961. As a result, both the vehicle and the diesel were confiscated, amounting to a total estimated value of RM105,000.
The seized items, along with the arrested individual, have been handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) for further investigation and action.
