KOTA SAMARAHAN: Maxis Berhad and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) organised a one-day STEM camp for local secondary school students under the Maxis eKelas Menuju Gemilang 2025 programme.
Launched in July 2025, the 18-month initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Education aims to support underprivileged students in excelling at their SPM examinations and pursuing higher education opportunities.
UNIMAS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Prof Dr Fitri Suraya Mohamad Hapni Joblie said the initiative supports the university’s mission to develop future-ready innovators and cultivate talent to contribute to Malaysia’s growth.
Similarly, Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Azizul Abdul Rahman said that through Maxis eKelas Menuju Gemilang 2025, its collaboration with UNIMAS nurtures ambition, strengthens extracurricular development, and prepares students to compete for places in Malaysia’s top universities.
The camp brought together 100 Form 4 students from local schools, selected for their academic performance, leadership potential, and involvement in extracurricular activities.
The programme featured hands-on workshops, group projects, and interactive sessions designed to enhance students’ creative thinking, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Participants also toured the UNIMAS campus to explore academic programmes and post-SPM study options, including the foundation programme.
With this collaboration, Maxis and UNIMAS aim to empower Sarawak youths, unlock their potential, and inspire them to become the next generation of leaders and innovators shaping Malaysia’s future.
