KUCHING: The distribution of Covid-19 vaccination certificates by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) to fully vaccinated operators and traders at its markets and hawker centres is one of the council’s initiatives to create awareness among the public on the importance of being fully vaccinated.
MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said these vaccination certificates would also serve as reassurance for customers or the public that it was safe to enter the premises.
Yesterday (Oct 16), he presented Covid-19 vaccination certificates to Stutong Market Liaison Committee leader Tan Choon Yang at the Stutong Community Market.
The presentation of the certificates was also attended by a number of MBKS councillors, namely, Goh Tze Hui, Kho Teck Wan and Mok Chuang Ping.

Following this, the council will start to distribute vaccination certificates to the traders at its markets and hawker centres. The certificates are for the stall operators and the assistant stall operators who have completed their Covid-19 vaccination.
The Stutong Community Market is the first market in the MBKS’ areas of jurisdiction to receive the certificates because all its operators are fully vaccinated.
“I hope that other business premises such as shopping malls, restaurants, cafes and food outlets in MBKS area will be able to do the same.
“If these employers ever wish to apply for the vaccination certificates from MBKS, they are very much welcome to send their complete information to the council for verification purposes,” said Wee.
He said everyone’s cooperation in this matter would be very much appreciated.
“Thank you for being a responsible citizen by showing support towards the government’s effort,” he said.
