In his brief address, Chan considered Lee as a very close friend, who was like a brother to him.

“Mayor Lee Sung has donated two fire trucks to Kuching City before and I am extremely thankful for his kind gesture.

“I hope that he will be able to come and visit us every year but I also understand that he is a busy man and a good mayor.”

Chan said that he was impressed by the South Korean culture as they are disciplined and united which can also be found here in Kuching with people from different ethnic groups coexisting in peace.

Meanwhile, Lee said that he was happy to see Chan and wanted to see how much Kuching has grown since his last visit three years ago.

“I also hope that with the student exchange programmes, our youths are able to share our cultures in order for us to know each other better.”

The delegation from Guro District also extended their invitation to Chan to visit their district in September for the Guro Festival.
