Motorcyclist dies after losing control and crash

MIRI: A 59-year-old motorcyclist was killed after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing along Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau near Sekolah Kebangsaan Agama Miri on Thursday.

Miri Police Chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was travelling from the SABERKAS roundabout towards his workplace at Jalan Pujut Padang Kerbau when he lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to veer off the left side of the road.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:13 pm by medical personnel from Miri Hospital’s Emergency Unit.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Farhan urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information related to the crash to contact investigating officer, Insp. Mohd Faizul Abdul Rahim, at 014-8582582 or 085-430479, or report to the nearest police station.

He also reminded motorists to drive responsibly and comply with traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
