MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Branch continued its humanitarian outreach efforts by extending assistance to vulnerable families in two residential areas here on Saturday (May 9).
The outreach programme, conducted at Lot 1235 behind the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP) building and at No. 7, Taman Gilbert, Jalan Sim Song Chay, was carried out in collaboration with representatives from KK Bandaraya Miri and DMO.
During the visit, volunteers distributed food supplies and other essential items to families facing financial hardship, in a bid to help ease their daily burden.
Beyond humanitarian aid, the programme also incorporated an environmental awareness campaign aimed at encouraging the reduction of single-use plastics. Volunteers distributed ‘Say No To Single Used Plastic’ stickers while briefing residents on environmentally friendly practices and sustainable living habits.
Representatives involved in the programme also shared information on welfare assistance schemes available to eligible families, including applications for e-Kasih and aid provided under the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of the MRC Miri Branch to supporting underprivileged communities through practical assistance and community-based engagement.
In a statement, the branch said such initiatives were important not only in addressing immediate needs but also in fostering compassion, social responsibility and stronger community ties.
