KUCHING: Former Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) Director, Francis Nyurang Ding, has passed away on Wednesday (May 6) at the age of 73.
In a heartfelt Facebook post shared by his son, Eugene Francis, the family expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his father, who “left us just moments ago”.
“He was a loving father, a kind soul, and someone who meant so much to all who knew him,” Eugene wrote in the post.
Francis was well known within Sarawak’s sporting fraternity, having served as director of MSNS before ending his tenure on December 31, 2013.
He began leading the council in 2005, taking over from Annuar John, and went on to oversee key developments in Sarawak’s sports administration during his time in office.
During his tenure, he played a role in Sarawak’s participation in the Malaysia Games (SUKMA), while also contributing to efforts to support and strengthen sports development in the state.
After his service with MSNS, Francis later continued his involvement in the sports sector with the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC).
Following the announcement of his passing, messages of condolence and tributes began appearing on social media, with many expressing sympathy to the family and remembering Francis for his contributions and dedication to Sarawak sports.
