MUKAH: Police arrested the prime suspect in the murder of a foreign worker on Sunday.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspect was picked up during ‘Ops Kesan’ at a plantation area, at around 4.15 pm yesterday (Dec 17).

“The suspect attempted to flee and the team had to use minimal violence to make the arrest. His hideout is located about 5km from the murder scene.
“Also seized were a sharp object and the clothes used during the crime,” he said in a statement.
Preliminary tests showed that the foreign suspect, in his 30s, tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
Rizal added that the suspect will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The crime reportedly took place on Sunday (Dec 15) following a fight between the suspect and the victim at an oil palm plantation workers’ quarters.
The altercation resulted in the death of the 29-year-old plantation worker, who was found with slash wounds to his neck and stomach, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.
Initial investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a disagreement between the two men.
