KUCHING: A Quranic study programme organised by PERKIM Kuching Branch drew 300 Muslim women on Saturday (Jul 18), highlighting leadership, wisdom and resilience as qualities that can guide Muslimahs in navigating contemporary challenges.
Held in collaboration with the Darul Hana Quran Centre under the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) and the Islamic Information Centre, the programme centred on reflections from Quranic chapters featuring exemplary women and their enduring lessons.
The programme was officiated by Darul Hana Quran Development Centre chief executive officer Ustadz Mohamad Shalahudin Marzuki.
“We must make the Quran our primary guide in nurturing Muslim women who are faithful, knowledgeable and able to contribute to the development of the family, society and the nation,” he said.
The tadabbur session was led by Singaporean independent preacher Ustazah Hamidunnisah Mohamed Hussein, who has more than 30 years of experience teaching Islamic education.
She guided participants through Surah An Naml, focusing on the stories of remarkable women in the Quran while highlighting values of leadership, wisdom and perseverance that remain relevant in modern life.
According to the statement, the programme aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the Quran while encouraging them to strengthen their faith and leadership qualities through its teachings.
The closing ceremony in the afternoon was officiated by PERKIM Kuching Branch chairman Datuk Seri Sharifah Mordian Tuanku Fauzi.
PERKIM Kuching Branch also expressed appreciation to the Sarawak Islamic Council, the Darul Hana Quran Development Centre, the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund and the Islamic Information Centre for their support in making the programme a success.
The organisation said it hopes the collaboration will continue to strengthen Quranic education initiatives and empower Muslim women with strong faith, values based leadership and a commitment to contributing positively to society.
